FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Catalyst Releases Library Edition of SocketTools

Yucca Valley, CA, March 23, 1998 - Catalyst Development Corporation, providing Winsock compliant TCP/IP custom controls, today announced the release of SocketTools Library Edition, a collection of dynamic-link libraries (DLLs).

SocketTools Library Edition answers the needs of developers who require a simple, straight-forward API that doesn’t have the overhead of embedding different controls in an application.

The new SocketTools Library Edition is a collection of 16-bit and 32-bit DLLs suitable for use with virtually any Windows programming language or scripting tool. All of the popular protocols are included, with a total of 17 libraries in the package including Domain Name Server (DNS), UDP, Audio Player, Telnet Client, Post Office Protocol (POP3), File Transfer (FTP), Remote Execution (RLIB), Whois Protocol, Time Protocol, Mail Message (MIME), Internet Control Message (Ping), Image Viewer, Terminal Emulation, Simple Mail Transfer (SMTP), Network News Transfer (NNTP), Time Protocol, and Finger Protocol.

The SocketTools APIs are designed with a simple elegance that makes it both easy to use and extremely powerful. The vast majority of the SocketTools functions are implemented with only strings and integers as arguments. There are no complex structures and datatypes that are difficult to implement in languages other than C or C++.

This means that whether you're using Visual C++, Visual Basic, Delphi, Access, Visual FoxPro, Clarion, or some other tool, the SocketTools API will be easy to prototype and use with your language of choice. Unlike many other packages, which only sell libraries for C++, or charge runtime licensing fees, the SocketTools Library Edition can be used with any language and there are no royalties of any kind.

And just as with the SocketTools Visual Edition, a suite of VBX/16-32 bit OCX custom controls, we've taken all the hard work out of developing quality applications for the Internet and intranet.

A full featured evaluation copy is available for download from our web site. Once purchased, the insertion of a serial number allows for an uninterrupted development process. All Catalyst products come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and are free of runtime licensing or royalty fees. The Library Edition has a suggested retail price of $247.
