FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Catalyst Development Corporation Introduces SocketTools Enterprise Edition

Yucca Valley, CA, June 23, 1998 - Catalyst Development Corporation, providing Winsock compliant TCP/IP development tools to the programming community since early 1995, today announced the release of  SocketTools Enterprise Edition, a collection of  dynamic-link libraries (DLLs) and VBX/OCX custom controls.

The Enterprise Edition offers the best of both worlds for the corporate developer who needs visual controls for rapid application development, as well as the power and flexibility of dynamic-link libraries for developing core application systems. Including 16-bit Visual Basic controls, 16/32-bit ActiveX controls and 16/32-bit dynamic link libraries (DLLs), the Enterprise Edition is suitable for use with virtually any Windows development environment or scripting tool. A total of eighteen controls and sixteen libraries provide client interfaces for application protocols such as the File Transfer Protocol, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol, Post Office Protocol and Telnet Protocol.

All of the controls share many common attributes. The network controls support both synchronous (blocking) and asynchronous modes of operation, and also include the ability to log the Windows Sockets function calls for debugging purposes. All of the controls are thread-safe and can be used in multithreaded containers, such as Internet Explorer and Netscape. With the exception of the visually oriented controls (the browser, image viewer and terminal emulation controls), they can also be used as simple Automation objects, without requiring that they be placed on a form or inside another container. The libraries also support both synchronous and asynchronous modes of operation, and are thread-safe as well.

With full support for both 16-bit and 32-bit Windows platforms and virtually every Windows development tool, illustrative samples, comprehensive online help, and royalty-free distribution, the Enterprise Edition offers everything the corporate developer needs to build professional applications for the Internet and intranet. In addition, the Enterprise Edition includes a two-developer license as well as an annual Priority Support agreement, that entitles the company to priority voice support and free upgrades for the life of the contract. A full-featured evaluation copy is available for download from our web site. Once purchased, the insertion of a serial number allows for an uninterrupted development process. All Catalyst products come with a 30-day money-back guarantee and are free of runtime licensing or royalty fees. The SocketTools Enterprise Edition has a suggested retail price of $697.
