When attempting to install a product, the installation fails abnormally at the beginning of the setup process. A message may be displayed which indicates a general protection fault, or the installer may fail silently with no error messages displayed. |
More Information |
|
There is a known issue with InstallShield installers which can cause the installation to terminate abnormally if very long PATH and/or TEMP environment variables are defined. The actual behavior can vary from system to system, but typically the installation will either fail immediately or after the first dialog box is displayed.

To resolve this problem, temporarily change the values for the PATH and TEMP environment variables in your system configuration. Once the installation has completed, you can restore the original values.
It is recommended that you temporarily set the PATH variable to the value "C:\Windows;C:\Windows\System32" and set the TEMP variable to "C:\Windows\Temp". Note that if you installed Windows into a folder other than C:\Windows, you should specify that folder instead. It is also recommended that you delete any temporary files, and reboot the system prior to attempting the installation again. Before making any changes to your system, always make sure that you have a complete backup and that you have saved the original values of the PATH and TEMP environment variables. |
